The Embassy of Afghanistan in Vienna says Ambassador Manizha Bakhtari used her address at the 35th Session of the UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ) to warn of a worsening human rights situation in Afghanistan.

The CCPCJ is a key UN forum where member states discuss global crime trends, human rights concerns, and international cooperation on justice and security.

In a statement published on its official X account, the embassy said Bakhtari highlighted “urgent challenges” facing Afghanistan, including terrorism, organized crime, and the rapid deterioration of basic freedoms.

She focused in particular on the Taliban’s systematic exclusion of women and girls from education, employment, and public life. According to the statement, Bakhtari warned that these restrictions heighten women’s vulnerability to violence, forced marriage, trafficking, and exploitation.

Bakhtari urged stronger international action to protect human rights and support victims of abuse. She stressed that the suffering of the Afghan people “must not be normalized or forgotten,” calling on UN member states to keep Afghanistan’s crisis on the global agenda.

Her remarks come as rights groups and Afghan diaspora communities continue to raise alarm over the Taliban’s escalating restrictions. The embassy’s statement reflects ongoing diplomatic efforts to ensure that Afghanistan’s human rights situation remains visible in international forums.
